The Evaluation Of our Project
Our project is like a fairy story which has magical features and a story which will never end and will go on forever !
Here is the story,
After our project was approved, the TwinSpace and the tasks were organised and the students were registered to
TwinSpace, so our students had the chance to get to know each other using the
chat room there. We introduced our towns and countries to each other and used
Skype video chat to enable our students to see each other. Next we chose 3 songs
in Turkish ,Danish and English. First ,one of our songs from our area or country
and we studied on our song’s lyrics and practiced the song in our own languages
with our project teams. When the songs were practiced well enough, we rearranged
the songs to be played with the guitars and they worked on the guitar tabs and
chords. When the tabs and chords were ready, we used google docs, twinspace and
email to share the lyrics, tabs and chords with our partner. We enclosed two
videos one with singing and one with solo guitar playing the song
instrumentally.
A video for pronunciation of the lyrics and difficult sounds in
both language was produced. Each country then started to practice another
country’s song in their native language and our students recorded the videos of
their practice sessions and put them on TwinSpace and our project sites. We
,project administrators, discussed the project progress using Skype frequently.
When the folk songs are learned, we chose an, English song and practiced it in
the same way mentioned above. Later we practiced three songs together and
recorded the videos and shared with each other. In the course of that time our
students talked to each other on TwinSpace, in the closed chatroom on Facebook,
in English, Danish and Turkish and shared their photographs and introduced
their families to each other. Our students taught each other Danish and Turkish
in addition to using English. When our practice sessions were over it was the
time for our public performances, we gave concerts open to public (parents
,students from other schools in our areas and the people in general) Our
students recorded thee videos and shared them with each other. Here after our
students dramatized their folk song and to demonstrate the story behind the folk
song for public performance. In addition, we organised local studios to record
our songs on CDs to send to each other . We skyped to discuss the CDs and
decided to talk to our schools principles and local authorities to sell the CDs
in a limited number and raise some money for needy schools in Rize - Turkey, or
at least buy one or two computers. That was an important outcome of our project.
We planned every task together.
During the process with the songs, we decided to expand the project with folk dances.
The work process with the dances, was nearly the same as with the
songs.
Finally, we arranged a meeting in Rize. Project Partner Niels Askholm visited Turkish
partner’s Adil TUĞYAN’s town and school and stayed there for three days. We got
much closer to each other, and practiced our project songs and we danced a folk
dance too. We had the chance of cultural exchange in real. That was the sign of
our strong friendship and collaboration. Thanks to our strong collaboration, our
students also had very strong terms with each other, and they still keep having.
The project has really connected the students together, as brothers and sisters,
even there are more than 2300 KM between them. The visit to Rize has created a
great friendship between the two partners and their schools as well.
